Alexander Grimes is the principal viola of the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra. After graduating from Vanderbilt University, he attended New England Conservatory where he studied with acclaimed chamber musician and soloist Dmitri Murrath. He is an active chamber and orchestral musician. Recent appearances have included the Seattle Symphony, Seattle Chamber Music Society, Early Music Seattle, Caramoor, Newport Classical, Princeton Chamber Music Series, Caroga Lake Music Festival, Archipelago Collective Chamber Music Festival, and Arizona Early Music.
When not playing the viola, Alex loves to write music for film. He has a Master’s of Film Scoring from the Berklee College of Music. One of his recent films was screened at San Diego Comic Con.
