Coltan Foster is a musician living in Seattle, Washington, specializing in bassoon, jazz bass, voice, and free improvisation. Coltan has a broad range of experience including arts administration, live performance and arts education in Washington State and Ohio. He studied bassoon with Francine Peterson at Western Washington University, and worked for the Seattle Youth Symphony as the coordinator of the Marrowstone Music Festival upon graduation. He went on to study music performance at the University of Akron with Cynthia Cioffari, and the Cincinnati College-Conservatory with Bill Winstead, Chris Sales and Marty Garcia.
Currently, Coltan spends summers working for the Cincinnati Opera, and fall-spring in the Pacific Northwest supporting Emerald City Music, freelancing, and spending time with his family. Outside of work, Coltan is a slightly above average juggler, an ambitious (and occassionally successful) cook, and a fan of being outside, whatever the weather!
